A story about David Bowie
There was a great interview with him broadcast on the NPR show FreshAir. After hearing that, I liked him more than ever. His answers to her questions were perfect. Go find it and listen to it on the NPR website.

I am a super-fan of his website- www.stevepavlina.com. I spent an entire evening reading his entries and it was fabulously great. This guy is an A plus.
Maggie’s ease and finesse at karaoke is indeed enviable. I saw her command the stage at The Crescent with a seemingly effortless rendition of Once Bitten, Twice Shy. The lesbians on the premises could barely keep from mobbing the stage. Then, as she has mentioned, there was our clear understanding regarding violent love for mechanical birds. I would also like to meet Henry one day, who I too believe is communicating with her in dreams.
I am a big big fan of fake birds so when Jimmy pulled out a mechanical tweeting bird at a bar and tried to light it on fire because he loved it so much, I knew he was someone I could really get along with.
Maybe there should be a third category called “I had a brief run-in with” or “I met but did not hug…”. Anyhow, for what it’s worth, I served Edward Norton and his two female friends some appetizers (including a tomato, eggplant and basil quesadilla) at Carlito’s Restaurant in Santa Barbara. He was enjoying himself, and not at all worried about being low-key or discrete. He was very animated. My friend was waiting on Michael Douglas and Sean Penn at another table that same night. Go have dinner there sometime during the film festival opening weekend if you enjoy looking at movie stars and such outside in 3D.
I served her and her mom Danish ham sandwiches in Santa Barbara at Andersen’s Danish Bakery on State Street. She was there for the SB Film Festival. She was incognito, wearing big glasses and a hat- and she sat behind a big column on the patio so as to be even more out of the public eye. She was both polite and a good eater.
Dancing in front of my mom’s house to Oye Como Va, with sizzling tummies after our jalepeno eating contest (hey, who won that???). Jimmy danced so hard he fell right on his butt in front of his Buick. Oh, one more good one – the time that I wore a sweater to school that I was allergic to, and when Jimmy drove me home, I took it off right there in the front seat. I’m sitting there in my bra, and Jason Del Campo said something like, “Dude, I should catch rides with you more often.”
Erin and I used to spend hours at our local Chevy’s Mexican restaurant eating baskets of chips with bowls of salsa and buckets of coke. Usually we’d order one side of guacamole for good measure. Ahh, but we were young and studying for our AP Biology class. Erin is a good egg and one day we’ll meet again- especially now that I’m just up in the Bay Area. Hi Erin! Happy Baby Time to you by the way. Wow is right.
I just had a birthday lunch with Rob and his gfriend Tracy the other day around Union Square in San Francisco. Rob is someone who I’m confident that I’ll know till I die and that I’ll always be able to have good conversations with. The kid’s all heart.
